New Legislation announced17/05/05The State opening of Parliament for the 2005-06 Session took place this morning, with the traditional Queen?s speech outlining forthcoming legislation.
Announcements included in the speech include:
Family-friendly rights- Legislation will be brought forward to offer greater support for working families by extending maternity benefits and improving provision of child care.
Corporate manslaughter- The government will take forward, much delayed, proposals to introduce of corporate manslaughter.
Discrimination- Legislation will be introduced to combat discrimination and to establish the Commission for Equality and Human Rights.
